Experiences | On The Water
a boaters paradise
Numerous and accessible boat launch ramps on our rivers and lakes are why so many sport, fishing, and pontoon boats head to Maine’s Kennebec Valley. The water lures boaters all spring, summer, and fall to find a launch and head out for a day filled with fun on the water.

cruising
Launch your boat from Gardiner’s Waterfront Park to enjoy an evening cruise on the Kennebec River up to Augusta. You may even glimpse one of the massive sturgeon, often seen breaching the river’s surface.
Looking for some summer romance? Launch your boat for a sunset cruise to experience the golden glow of Great Pond in the Belgrade Lakes.
Grab a Paddle
Whether you prefer a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard, you can paddle everywhere in Maine’s Kennebec Valley. Serene ponds, man-made lakes, wide rivers, and smaller tributaries work together to form the watershed for one of Maine’s largest river systems.
Time spent paddling also offers the chance to do other things you love. Go birding from a water view or try your hand at wildlife photography. Enjoy morning yoga atop a paddleboard or drift meditatively in your canoe as the afternoon breeze wafts across the lake.
For a real adventure paddle, the region’s section of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail runs from Flagstaff Lake to Moosehead Lake. Running through Jackman and the Upper Kennebec Valley, the historic Moose River Bow Trip is a somewhat more leisurely paddle, but still an unforgettable experience.

Surfs up
If you want to try something new or more adventurous, head to Great Pond in the Belgrade Lakes area. The Central Maine Surf Company offers Wake Surfing, Hydrofoiling, eFoiling, and Sunset Cruises. With world-class instructors and state-of-the-art equipment, they provide a unique experience for lucky vacationers.
