Tent or RV, the choice is Yours
With travelers looking for new ways to spend time outdoors in the fresh air and safer lodging options, camping is becoming more popular than ever.
Maine’s Kennebec Valley’s reputation as a top camping destination is well deserved. The region is home to a wide range of campgrounds and adventure resorts with something to fit every budget. So whether you prefer a full-service RV camping resort, a cottage with bunks and a kitchenette, or a rustic tent site, you will surely find a campground that fits your unique style.

the great outdoors
Once you arrive in Maine’s Kennebec Valley, you won’t want to leave. So make sure to expand your camping experience beyond a cabin, camper, or RV and try one of our more far-flung camping options. Reserve a site nestled in the forest under tall pine trees with easy access to hiking trails and crystal-clear lakes. All of it is breathtaking. We’ve set the bar high for recreational camping with great spots in the Winthrop Lakes Area, The Forks, and Jackman.
a Family Adventure
Camping doesn’t have to be way out in the wilderness to be exciting. Many of our most popular campgrounds are within easy reach of all the needs and attractions found in the cities and towns along the Kennebec River.
For centrally located family camping that still delivers a genuine Maine camping experience, check out the camping resorts around Skowhegan, Canaan, or Madison. The kids and the adults will enjoy perks like mini-golf, zip lines, crafts, and outdoor movie nights.

Go remote
Scenic campsites in remote settings await. The Holeb Public Lands, including Attean Lake, Holeb Pond, and the Moose River, is a classic northern outdoor recreation destination. Sites here are almost exclusively hike or paddle-in, first-come, first-serve; most have a rustic picnic table, access to a pit toilet, and a fire ring.
Additionally, the area surrounding Flagstaff Lake offers opportunities for fishing, paddling, and hiking, including a section of the Appalachian Trail with tent, lean-to, and group sites.
