SUMMARY:Once Upon a Mattress
DESCRIPTION:Many moons ago in a far-off place\, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son\, Prince Dauntless\, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince\, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is\, until the “shy” swamp princess\, Winnifred the Woebegone\, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test\, marry her prince and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs\, by turns hilarious and raucous\, romantic and melodic\, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For after all\, a princess is a delicate thing. \nMusic by Mary Rodgers\nLyrics by Marshall Barer\nBook by Jay Thompson\, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer \nOnce Upon a Mattress is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals\,\n Concord Theatricals \nPrices include a per ticket handling fee. SUMMARY:Black Violin
DESCRIPTION:For nearly two decades\, Black Violin (Kev Marcus and Wil Baptiste) has been merging string arrangements with modern beats and vocals\, building bridges in communities along the way. NPR took note and declared “their music will keep classical music alive for the next generation.” Black Violin plays roughly 200 shows a year\, many of which are performances for young\, low-income students in urban communities. In the last year alone\, the group has played for over 100\,000 students with the goal of challenging stereotypes and preconceived notions of what a “classical musician” looks and sounds like. “It’s a unique thing that brings people together who aren’t usually in the same room\,” Baptiste said. “And in the current climate\, it’s good to bring people together.” \nOn Sale to WC Members: Tuesday\, November 11 at 10am\nOn Sale to Public: Friday\, November 14 at 12pm \nTickets:$52-$147\nPrices include a per ticket handling fee.
